WHAT'S POPPIN?

Insights & Perspectives from the Folks behind PopScreen.

In response to Amazon, Barnes and Noble finally released their own e-book device called the Nook. The name is a bit awkward but the design is definitely slick. It even comes with two screens: One e-ink screen and another color touch-sensitive screen dedicated to navigation. Overall, it seams to be a very cool device but is it too little too late?

Commments
  1. murmurandshout answered: No way. The Kindle is ugly as hell, and people want pretty tech. If the content delivery process is comparable, the Nook can win.
  2. technogeeknotes answered: I dont know. That would be a hard decision. I like how the Nook does with the book cover thumbnail pics. I wonder if it has a virtual qwerty.
  3. atomische answered: I still have concerns over DRM. What happens to my library down the road? Will probably wait for Apple, Microsoft or Alex.
  4. wheresparetimegoestodie answered: i’d buy the nook. it just looks sleeker and more user-friendly.
  5. karencilla answered: it’s cool, but as you said, the name is weird… the design looks better though
  6. cas-tiel answered: This is cool! But where will the ever-classic-books go now? Personally I’m still gonna go for the book. But I wouldn’t say no to this either.
  7. feefoolala answered: nook
  8. nunkichannels answered: i don’t see a future for both of them. The’re lacking an overall color touch screen. I would like to read, scetch and make notes.
  9. charlesgomes answered: Nook is very recommended by brazilian blogs… Is very, very superior to Kindle.
  10. jamieho answered: If I had to choose, it would be the Nook. I wouldn’t buy either, too clunky and a real book still beats these e-book devices any day.
  11. kdforbreakfast answered: What does it do?
  12. ubu507 answered: neither — I’ll stick with the good old book..

  15. singulus answered: It is never too late, at this stage of the game anyway, to perfect the eBook, an idea whose time is in the process of coming.
