Interview With @OhDocTah and his Beef with the Old Spice Guy!
I met OhDocTah at SXSW almost 2 years ago and I’ve been following up on his various videos since then, but it certainly was a big surprise when I woke up to discover him on the front page of PopScreen… without his shirt on =P
At the time of this writing the video has close to 200K views on Youtube but it’s been shown on National Television - so the actual views are certainly a lot more. Here’s some background on the big guy behind this great spoof and the coverage he’s gotten from putting out this hilarious clip.
Me: Tell me a little about yourself and how can I find out more if this interview doesn’t give me enough info.
OhDocTah: I could sit here and write about myself but I hate doing that. The most important thing I am is a father. Everything else if someone cares can go to http://ojjs.me there is a bullet point to who I am.
Me: Do you post a lot of videos of yourself? I remember the Pop It like it’s hot video =) what happened to it?
OhDocTah: Most of my videos are of me dishing out advice or doing a parody of some kind. Mostly I say what people think. Man YouTube finally took down Pop it Like it’s hot… after 100k views I thought I had snuck it by there system. I might try to repost it somewhere else just for old times sake.
Me: How do you feel about the response to this current video?
OhDocTah: The response to this OldSpice challenge has been crazy. CBS news played a clip Katie Couric said she liked the guy with the “keg”. Canadian National Post and Sydney Australia Herald. All the comments on my blog are positive. Most of the youtube comments are positive which is rare. Over all I’m happy its also opening up other doors for me so we will see what happens.
Me: What’s your beef with the old spice guy?
OhDocTah: I have no beef really. Isaiah Mustafa seems like an awesome dude. He has a great delivery! I just don’t like Old Spice first of all. Then add to the fact that I got just a little bit tired of the writers writing crazy stuff for him to say. Most of it’s funny. Some of it is just way to much. Plus the commercial could make dudes feel bad about themselves. I hope to meet Isaiah one day.
Me: If you could say something to the old spice guy, what would it be?
OhDocTah: I would love to go toe to toe no writers and see who would win in a smell off. Trashing talking included of course. Thats the thing about it. He is playing a character that is controlled by others. It would never happen. But if it did.. no matter what the outcome it would be epic!
